First Look: I've Seen Things I Cannot Unsee — and Cannot Look Away

On the six-month anniversary of this project, as I continue to explore ways to reach audiences about these critical issues, check out these two new videos.

As I post this, I am celebrating a milestone: the six-month anniversary of this independent project that began as “Hate Comes to Main Street.”

Now, I have moved toward a more active, solutions-focused mindset:

Confront the Hate. Find the Hope.

(You can read more about the rebrand here.)

To mark that milestone, I am posting a couple of videos about my journey. In the one above, I wanted to help you understand my passion, how I have seen parts of our society I cannot unsee, and why looking away is simply not an option.

And the video below shows why I am convinced this work meets the needs of the moment—and how your support helps to sustain me.

Over the past six months, I have produced more than 80 individual posts for this one-of-a-kind publication—while remaining fully committed to my day job as chief investigative reporter for Nashville’s NewsChannel 5.

Which means lots of nights and weekends devoted to this passion project.

Among the big stories that I have broken here:

I put in the extra hours because I care deeply and believe we can come together as a country—if we can first see the undercurrents we are facing.

And get this: neo-Nazis and other extremists around the globe are watching what I am doing to shine a light on their activities, and they are not happy.

That’s a good thing!

In the days ahead, I will be breaking more big stories here and continuing to bring you fascinating conversations with people who are making a difference.

But for today, as I celebrate this milestone, let me thank everyone who has chosen to join me on this journey.

We’re in this together!
